What we know about running tech trends…

TCS leverages its technology sponsorships with 25 leading international running events to drive engagement among customers and employees. These events help us promote better lifestyle practices and showcase cutting-edge digital technologies. TCS’ interactive race apps were downloaded more than 1.42 million times in 2019 and have won several awards, including the ‘Best Sports Mobile Application’ at the Mobile Excellence Awards, the ‘MediaPost Appy Award’ and Gold for ‘App of the Year’ at the Best in Biz Awards.

About this survey

Data highlighted on this site is from a research study to understand the prevalent attitudes of runners towards technology and technology’s role in sport now and in the near future. TCS commissioned MarketCast to conduct an online survey with U.S. runners. Insights will help shape how TCS can best support runners and races in the future.

Sample composition:

  • 1,241 U.S. runners (run at least once a week and 5+ miles per week)
  • 80% casual runners (run at least once a week and 5+ miles per week)
  • 20% avid runners (run 2+ times per week; 21+ miles per week)
  • Gender: 52% female / 48% male
  • Age: 18-74 years old

All data collected between June 23 – July 6, 2020.
